There may be no new episode of Last Week Tonight this week, but John Oliver fans have a different reason to celebrate.
On Sunday, at the same as the weekly episodes normally go out, HBO decided to throw all of Season 1 up on the Last Week Tonight YouTube channel.
The release was announced a few days ago on Last Week Tonight‘s social media.
“There’s no new episode this week!” reads the post on X/Twitter. “But we still have current events. From 10 years ago. This Sunday we’ll be dropping all of season 1 for free on YouTube!”
The good news? There’s more where that came from, too.
“Seasons 2-8 to come, whenever we don’t have a new episode,” continues the post. “Trust us, some of this is still completely relevant. Some.”
April 2024 marks the 10-year anniversary of Last Week Tonight‘s first episode, which probably explains the decision. Topics covered in Season 1 include everything from the death penalty and climate change to immigration and FIFA.
